Terms of service

This page covers use of the website. What governs an actual case is the Assessment Reduction Filing Service Agreement you sign separately; if the two ever conflict, the service agreement controls. You can see where in the process that agreement appears on the how it works page, before you sign anything.

1. Who we are

Fortunewoods LLC, Not provided, Not provided. Phone Not provided, email Not provided. We do not yet hold a Tax Agent Registration Number under LA County Code 2.165. We are not a government agency and we have no affiliation with one.

2. What this site does

The “annual tax savings” shown on this site is an estimate, derived from public sale records and assessment data. It may differ from the final result, and it may be zero. What settles it is the corrected bill or refund notice issued by the Los Angeles County Auditor-Controller.

3. Fees

Our fee is contingent; the rate is on the pricing page. Under Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code §17537.9(c), we may not charge, demand, or collect anything from you until the application has been filed with the Assessor or with the clerk of the assessment appeals board. This site has no payment page at all.

4. Authorization

Before we file anything for you, we have to hold your signed written authorization, and a true and correct copy of it goes in with the application (§17537.9(e)). We keep the original for three years, and you can download your copy from your case page at any time. Under Property Tax Rule 305(a)(1)(B), an authorization covers at most 4 consecutive calendar years and cannot be backdated. You can revoke it in writing at any time.

5. What you are telling us

6. What we will not do

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for this service is capped at the fees you have actually paid us on that case. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

8. Disputes

These terms are governed by California law. Disputes go to a court of competent jurisdiction in Los Angeles County.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. A service agreement you have already signed does not change because this page did — the version that binds your case is the one you signed.
